I downloaded software and when I clicked to run it, Windows warned me that I shouldn't because it might harm my PC. What's going on, is that normal?

Answer:
Yes its normal, it is just windows defender doing its job. In the case of sourceforge you can trust the source and download it.

Question:

Just looking for a free program that will open ai files. Now after reading this, I am hesitant to download Inkscape from Sourceforge. Comments?

Answer:
You can download Inkscape, as well as any other program from SourceForge safely. SourceForge scans all downloads for malware and has since 2016.

Question:

I always do research before I commit to any new downloads for programs that can do real damage to my OS. I have conflicted feelings about this company and what you are offering. It all sounds great and something I would love, but not sure? Any advice/information that would reassure me and stop the warning bells? Thanks, kg

Answer:
SourceForge instituted malware scanning in 2016. So SourceForge scans all downloads for malware, by default. SourceForge is the safest place to download software anywhere on the web.
