Buildzoom is a sham!

I'm updating my review in response to this. You state that BZ holds contractors highly accountable. I'm not sure how that can be when you've removed my negative review. You state that you don't suppress negative reviews but you removed mine. If your position was truly to assist clients with finding the best contractor for the job you wouldn't contract with companies that employ workers to do work that they are not licensed or permitted to do! You state that you will suspend or remove contractors from your website if you believe it is warranted, then why didn't you suspend the contractor I mentioned after I informed you of their multiple violations? You are correct that positive reviews help boost a contractor's rating which ostensibly helps their (and BZ's) business so if you remove negative reviews it also means that a company's rating will not be lowered. I disagree on your point about other review platforms, plenty of critical reviews can be found on sites like Trustpilot & Sitejabber that interestingly do not show up on BZ. I stand by my original review, you have had 6 months to investigate my review and I have not heard back from you in that time. It is apparent that you are siding with the contractor here who left our job with many things undone or poorly done and also did work he was not permitted or qualified to do. I did state in my original review that the company & contractor received multiple violations for work that was done incorrectly which resulted in costly repairs on our behalf but it seems BZ has no interest in hearing this. Moreover, your ignorance and gaslighting of these concerns means that the company's BZ score and rating remain unblemished by my review that was removed and future customers of this company will not have the benefit of knowing how this company does business. The plethora of negative reviews out there in regard to BZ make it abundantly clear that BZ is in bed with sleazy contractors and really has no interest in helping folks find qualified tradespeople nor doing right by their customers.

We hired a contractor off Buildzoom mainly due to their high score. That contractor was hit & miss about showing up, did work they were not licensed or permitted to do which resulted in extensive repairs on our behalf to fix shoddy work & bring our remodel up to code. The company received multiple L&I citations but denied any wrongdoing. I subsequently left a negative review on Buildzoom for the company & they took it down, they state that "customer feedback" is an important component of their rating criteria but they must be referring to positive feedback. I believe it is common practice to remove negative reviews which doesn't reflect all customers experiences but it benefits both Buildzoom & the contractor as the absence of negative reviews hides issues that real customers report & doesn't lower the company's rating: win-win for both Buildzoom & the company. If they are removing negative reviews it is also likely that many of the glowing reviews are fake. Buildzoom is good about responding to customer complaints that appear on different sites but they are quick to reject any responsibility for issues & they are all smoke & mirrors. Nearly 100 complaints on BBB cannot be all wrong. Totally shady company!
