Terrible customer service
September 27, 2024

I ordered 3 pairs of Jeans and none of them fit. I returned the 2 in the store and the third one I couldn't because that one was sold from another vendor that is in Australia. I got the return address and when I went to mail them, the shipping would cost over $250 and I am not going to spend that money so I can get back $190 and I am definitely not keeping jeans that don't fit. So, I reached out to the customer service who informed me that I should mail the jeans to Attn: Returns Department - 766 Brackbill Rd, Gap, PA ******* and send them the receipt with the tracking number and they will refund my jeans and the shipping. I did everything he wrote, I sent the receipt from the post office, and I haven't received my refunds. I did my part exactly how he instructed me to do, I mailed the item, now I don't have the item anymore, nor the money, and when I emailed them they are acting like they never told me to return them, and they are keep saying to reach out to the vendor from Australia. I wasted so much time talking to them, with no success. They shouldn't be working with other companies outside from the US and getting the money from them to sponsor and sell their items if they are not offering the easy returns. I never encountered with something like this, and Amazon, Walmart and others that are super cheap are offering a seaming less return service, and NEVER ON THE EXPENSE OF THE CUSTOMER. If the customer is paying for the return of the items, they need to write that on the website and make sure people know before buying the items. I would never buy those jeans if I knew that I need to pay shipping back to Australia $250!
For two days I am texting back and forth, and being transferred from one customer service agent to another, and I am beyond frustrated and tired of explaining million times the same story.

Online order problems constantly
February 7, 2024

I've finally cut ties with ordering from the UO app. I've have several orders canceled on me because I had ordered something they apparently didn't even have in stock to begin with. This last order I had placed was just one problem after another. It started out ok… ordered a light blue sweatshirt and sweatpants set. Arrived on time and I loved how they fit, but I didn't like how the color looked on me so I set up an even exchange on my app for the color called "washed black" (that part was easy). Dropped my boxed up items at UPS, took only 3 days for UPS to deliver the box back to UO, and this is where the problems began. UPS sent me a notification that they delivered my box to UO, but UO never sent me anything saying they received my return. After 5 days of no word, i reached out to customer service by chat and the guy said he sees that they received my items and that my new items will be shipped out in 1-3 days. Not even 2 minutes after ending that chat, I received an email stating UO received my returned items but that the new items I requested in the exchange are now out of stock and I'll be getting a refund. I went and looked on the app right away and the sweat set was still available in the size and color I ordered. I got right back on with UO customer service, this new guy apologized for the confusion and promised me that I would receive my new items. Fast forward another 6 days, UO still had not shipped my new items out. Once again I'm back on chat with UO customer service and this new guy said my shipment will be shipped in 24-48 hours. To my surprise, it was shipped in about 30 hours. So today I finally received the box with my exchanged items, and after all this waiting and messing around contacting customer service, UO shipped me the wrong pants (I received the men's version which are much longer, thinner and not as warm, and the color doesn't exactly match the sweatshirt… it's a little greyer). The skew number of the pants I received doesn't even match the skew number of the pants I ordered. Quality control must've been off work that day. Sweatshirt was correct, but what's the point since I wanted to wear them as a set. And what do you know, the correct pants are now out of stock so I can't even exchange them again… not that I'd want to go through this whole mess again anyways. This company is a joke. Quality control is a bottom priority for UO.

Tip for consumers:

If UO would put more thought into what they were shipping out of their warehouses (maybe hire someone to double check what has been packed in the boxes just to make sure it actually matches what the customers have ordered), they might have some happier customers.

I’m returning both items since it was supposed to be a set. Since one is wrong, I can’t wear the set like I wanted.

Great Vvariety but the prices have gotten nuts for the quality
September 16, 2022

Urban is hit or miss regarding quality. The styles are always great, but often the guality is poor, things reek of chemical smell, don't launder well. And lots and lots of times the fabrics are more like sack cloth in softness. Very scratchy and stiff.

The prices are out of this world expensive for items that poor and made of very cheap materials in depressed countries. So a greedy markup. It was a teen store and now it's a wealthy teen store where only upper middle class kids can afford to shop. So definitely surpassing my current income and my kids.

I can't understand that after all these years they stillcan't seem to get micro shots of the bedding and fabrics so you could see if sheets and comforters are not going to be something you will like. The phots are not crisp and sharp but blurry. Do us all and the planet a favor and get a clea phot so people don't have to order something and send it back. Their colors often vary and have been post edited so you will see lots of customer reviews that say, the color is not really green but yellow. It's so bad that I won't buy anything from them I have not seen a customer uploaded photo of.

The buyers don't seem to have realized that boho moroccan is really, really played out and people are looking for bedding that doesn't look like a tapestry in a head shop or dorm room. Please use some other places for inspiration like Africa, Holland, France, Brazil, Jamaica, Hawaii, Australia, Japan, Chine, Poland, New Zealand, Haiti, England, Sweden, Ireland, the St Lucia, Mexico, Scotland anything seriously anything.

It's like they are perpetually set on California, India and Morocco. There is a whole world of design out there and bold beautiful fabrics. Why not some retro prints from 50's /60's japan, or some great vintage plaids, or some Irish pottery or baskets, so high English Gabby Demming make you sigh fabric or some Miatilda Goed like frames, candles, towels, and art.

Or please something like a high gloss lacquer picture frame or drink tray for a coffee table or a lit of Liberty of London, Harrods, or Marimekko, or sourcing something like plastic jelly baskets from Mexico for dorm storage, or a rug taht does not reek of chemicals and pill and send threads all over the floor What about some plates and table cloths or curtains from the South of France? Or Venetian drinking glasses. Shake it up. It's a snooze. I have that same gripe with their parent company, Anthropologie. The world is vast, pick the best and replicate it for less.

The sizing in clothing is often a bummer. Not enough petites, not enough stock in larger sizes. So I have a lot of gripes with them. But i still always drop $500 or more a year at the place. Sometime more if a dorm has to be furnished.

The curtains used to be really good quality, now the patters are so ugly, see through and flimsey Not sure why they can't seem to source a nice no see through curtain in a real velvet or thick canvas. The purpose of curtains in dorm rooms and homes is so that people can't see in. Almost everything they have has an ugly tiny cheap repeat pattern that looks like you have hung up skirt material.

Curtains are incredibly expensive is you have 3-4 windows in a room. They usually end up being like furnishing and things your are using for years and years. People are looking for curtains in colors they can restyle the room with in two years when they are bored like: white, tan, cream, bone, various solid blue shades, mauve, dusty pink, soft yellow, apricot. They want an item that will work for 10 to 15 years as buying two panels for 4 windows is a major purchase. They want things that will go from the dorm and then be able to be used in their first couple of apartments. Or from a toddler room to a teens.

So more longevity of service use. And less of a immediate statement. Please the land fils could use the help. A nice thick velvet, or cotton duck that drapes will and is a good width is a lot better than a cheap see through thing in crazy colors that you'll throw out in two years. So wish that collections quality and class was brought up. The curtains are all mostly tacky and looking. I hate that they are see through. I want simple functional items, I can home launder or dry clean.

The quilts used to be butter soft and a great value at one time and the sheets soft as well. Most times I end up sending them back as they fabrics smell heavily of chemical dyes that can't be healthy to lay on your skin and launder in your machine, and they are frequently scratchy. I want 100% cotton bedding that gets softer and softer with wear.

I stopped buying rigs from them about 8 years ago, the quality was very poor. Wish they would sell really good quality solid rugs that would fill up most of the door rooms, not shed or smell like chemicals.

Tip for consumers:

Don't buy anything in the home department without seeing a customer picture. Photos are consistently over edited, and color lightened or darkened and rarely true to life.

TERRIBLE SERVICE! DON'T BOTHER! GO TO THE STORES IF YOU MUST!
December 17, 2020

A SUMMARIZED VERSION IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ:
The biggest issue: customer service. From my experience and the other reviews I've read, they tend mess up on orders all the time! Whether it's sending the wrong color, charging double, cancelling an item, or just not receiving the package at all. The only way to fix most of these issues it to contact customer service. Their hotline is terrible! Every time you try to call you have to wait (I've waited over 10 minutes serval times, and still no answer), and chances are you won't even be able to speak with anyone. Why is that? Because there's so many issues with other customers, that they're always too busy! Oh, and don't even bother with the customer service bots! The only way to successfully contact them is to email, which takes a long while. Even when you're in contact via email, they send the shortest emails and don't help much! They ignore almost everything you tell them and say something along the lines of "I'm sorry. Can't do anything about it. Here's a coupon!" Though they do have great clothes, the service out weighs it. I'm sure you can find a lot of these items on their own brands site, or at another retailer such as: Pacsun, Anthropology, Top Shop, Nasty Gal, and Missguided.

Due to COVID-19 I haven't been shopping in person much, so this my first time ordering online for Urban Outfitters. The first purchase was back in April, there was a sale so why not? First, the items took incredibly long to get to me, I understand that due to COVID shipping may take longer and I understand that. What threw me off was the tracking, weeks past and the estimated date was still shown as the date that was 2 weeks ago, and eventually it said it was delivered. Now this messed me up! It said delivered for a week and my package was still nowhere to be found. The next week comes by and I finally get my package, but that's not all. They sent me a wrong colored item! I was very upset that not only did I have to wait, but I didn't even get the correct item. It took me days to get in touch with customer service, I'd wait 10 minutes multiple times a day on their customer service hotline-nothing. I tried using their customer service bot- nothing. I ended up having to email them, which took 2 days to get a response! And to my surprise another issue! Not only the wrong colored item, but they charged me double! It was so frustrating, I ended up having to take it up with my card company since Urban Outfitters pretty much ignored my plea about it. Anyway, I decided maybe I was just one of the few unlucky people... I made a second purchase and it was ok, still long shipping. Cyber Monday comes around and I can't find anywhere to find a good present for a close friend, I was doing some early Christmas shopping, and Urban Outfitters was pretty much a last resort. I found 3 cute items and bought it! For once I was pleased. Usually Urban Outfitters sends items separately, so I got my first two items with no issue... but here's the thing. It was December 12, and I get a notice saying that my last item was cancelled! They had none left in stock! This was a huge shock, seeing as I purchased it 12 days ago and it took that long for them to tell me. Plus, why is a product listed online if there isn't any in stock!? There wasn't even that little "there's only a few left!" sign when I purchased, so I know they weren't low on it. There's two reasons I'm upset, first being that this purchase was from Cyber Monday and I could've bought something else that was on sale, and now I'm unable to do so since many items are now full price. Second, it was supposed to be a Christmas Present and now I have to go gift searching again, which I like to finish early. Anyway, it's been 5 days and typically refund are given in 1-3 business days. I've just tried to reach customer service and I waited 30 minutes just for the system, not even a real person, to take my phone number and put me on a call back list! Don't know if this is due to COVID-19, but a miracle sale would have to go on for me to buy from them again!

Tip for consumers:

Just... don't.

Avoid Their Phone Service
March 25, 2020

I made an online purchase, which I almost immediately changed my mind about and wanted to return. According to their website, I would be able to return the items by simply calling the customer support number. When I called, just hours after making the purchase, I was told that they actually would not be able to process a return until I could provide a tracking number (once the items had shipped out). Following her instructions, I then waited for a tracking number. Days later, when I received one, I called again to begin my return. The employee on the phone at that time told me that the previous employees information was completely incorrect and that I actually would have had to return the items before they had been shipped out, not after they were shipped. She said now that they were shipped, that I would not be able to return them until they arrived to my house. She told me that because of the previous employees mistake, I would be provided with a return label, free of charge. She even left me on hold for a minute to supposedly verify this information with her supervisor. I made the mistake once more of trusting the information I was provided with. When the items finally did arrive to my house, I called the number yet again. This time, I was told that the previous employees information had also been incorrect. She told me that the company policy was that customers must pay for return shipping and that it was actually against the law for them to accept returns if the company had paid the shipping charges. I have never heard of this supposed law stating that companies may accept returns only if the customer pays the shipping fee, but may not accept the exact same return if the company has paid the shipping fee. I have tried to find some sort of source defending what she told me, but I was unable to find one. I am therefore assuming this claim was a lie in attempt to mislead me once again. Every employee I have spoken to has contradicted the words of another employee. I have been lied to and misled multiple times, and all of the employees on this team seem to be working together to make returning this order as complicated as possible. I want to get rid of these items and I want the shipping paid for, as I was promised. I was told I would not pay for shipping costs to return these items, as I was unfairly misled into waiting past the shipping-free return period. Had I been given the correct information the first time I initially called, the order would have been canceled before being sent out and I would never have had to deal with this package at all. Nobody I have spoken to has been able to provide me any assistance in honoring the other employees offer, and their team is doing everything in their power to lie to me and avoid my return. I am one step away from reporting this purchase to my bank account as a scam. I am beyond disappointed in the service I have received on the phone. I really expected more from this company, as I have been a customer in-store many times at the Ottawa location, and have always had very pleasant interactions with their staff. The staff who are working on the phone team are severely lacking though and I will be avoiding them at all costs from now on.

DONT SHOP ONLINE
April 9, 2018

DO I EVER HAVE A STORY FOR YOU
First of all they made a random charge to my credit card after I ordered and when I called, the service was so horrible, I couldn't even hear the lady and she kept asking invasive questions about my credit card. After over 30 min of trying to sort it out I just accepted that I was going to get charged an extra 17$ (which I checked was not due to any sort of shipping or anything it was actually a separate charge). They also separated my order, so one thing shipped before the rest and when it got here IT WASN'T EVEN WHAT I ORDERED. That's right they gave me the wrong thing, and it had multiple loose threads.
When I went on their website to go review it and say how upset I was, they didn't post the review, and yes I waited over 72 hours like they said. I reviewed it a second time and they still didn't post it which just shows that they know they have a huge problem with their online ordering system.
The other half of the order that I made has been in transit for over a week and the little online tracking thing hasn't updated in five days, maybe that's normal but with all the other trouble I've been getting I'm worried the package might just not come and I will still have to pay because I wont be able to get through with customer service.
While I'm at it let me just say that their clothes are over priced, and while some of it is nice, I could get half of the same things at the thrift store/goodwill or at forever 21.
Not worth it
I ordered a reversable bandeau with flower print on one side
Which you can see at the following link: https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/en-ca/shop/out-from-under-jane-reversible-seamless-bandeau?color=001&quantity=1&type=REGULAR
But the product i received was solid fabric on both sides, and also in the picture you can see one of the loose threads, which after everything I had been through was just so unprofessional and pathetic

Tip for consumers:

for the love of god, don't order online, just go in store if there is something you like

Worst Service Ever Experienced
December 27, 2017

I am a frequent customer both online and in-store at Urban Outfitters. I am extremely disappointed in the experience I have encounter with this establishment.

I placed an order for two curtains and a book that amounted to a total of $98.45. This was in error on my part as my account was still set to ship to an old home address of mine. When I was notified of delivery on December 19,2017, I reluctantly drove almost an hour from my current residence to pick up the package (this was completely my fault and I acknowledge this).

When I finally received the package, I was disappointed to open it up and while the packing slip was accurate, the order was completely wrong. Rather than two curtains and a book, I received several pieces of Jewelry and a striped yellow shirt. Immediately I called the customer service number provided and sat on hold for about 30 minutes with no answer. A few hours later, I again called the number, and was again, on hold for an extended period of time with no answer.

So at this point I decided to reach out through the online portal where I added my name, my email, my work email, and my phone number. I wrote a brief message and expected to hear back within the stated contact timeframe, 24-48 hours.

Well, I waited three days and had not heard anything, so AGAIN, I called the service number, waited about 20 minutes, and was able to speak with someone. She was attentive and friendly and while I was frustrated, she took down my NEW HOME ADDRESS, the same as my EXISITING BILLING ADDRESS ON THE ORDER, and ordered my package again for me, to my new address. Let me stress that I double and triple checked with this customer service rep that my new address was the one that this package would be shipped to.

In addition to the change of address, I was instructed that in order for my new shipment to be sent out, I had to return the package sent in error that consisted of a shirt and 3 pieces of jewelry. I complied, although that mistake was on the part of Urban Outfitters, and I did go out of my way to make a trip to the post office during the holiday season to return these items.

So we get off the phone and shortly after, I receive an email that my order is processing and shipping. I check December 26,2017 on the tracking of this package, and it says it was delivered, yet I had not received any package at my home. So, alas, I go onto the tracking and look up the shipping address, and somehow, we are back right where we started, my package is, AGAIN, delivered an hour from my home at an old address.

SO in summary: this has been a ridiculous exchange and I will absolutely NOT be driving an hour away from my home to AGAIN pick up a pair of overpriced curtains and a book I can probably find for half-price on amazon. Especially when I cannot even be confident that their employees were able to correctly package the items that I actually ordered.

So I have yet again sent an email on their customer service forum and to *******@urbanoutfitters.com

If I do not hear back within 24 hours, after submitting this to the email address, and the online forum (for the second time). I will be calling the customer service phone line, and referencing this email... it will not be a pleasant call.

In my opinion, to treat customers in such a way that they have to 1- inconvenience themselves to correct an error on your part, 2- continually neglect returning your emails, and 3- just downright acting careless toward meticulous details such as a shipping address, does not deserve the business and profits that I have contributed in the past.

EDIT: Called the neighbor of the old house to ask if the package had been delivered and the current resident NEVER RECIEVED THE PACKAGE. 0/10 rating I will NEVER be shopping here again.

Tip for consumers:

Just don't.

UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS THAT HARRASSES ITS EMPLOYEES
May 3, 2016

This has nothing to do with products but the way this company treats its employees. My daughter works here but refused to return because she is currently being bullied at work by her supervisor Corrine Baily in the Gap, PA Distribution Center and other employees. She is now suffering from depression because of it and was even contemplating on taking her own life. She does not want to quit because she has a car payment and insurance to pay for. I informed her that the job is not worth it because it is affecting her health. I contacted Headquarters, spoke to the supervisor, she spoke to a manager, but still no change. No employee should have to go to work and be abused. I have started a petition against this company Urban Outfitters. These corporations think that because they are making all this money that they cant be touched, not understanding that their employees and client base are the reason they have their business. I encourage everyone to please sign this petition to force change not only with this company, but other establishments that are doing this as well and so that our State Representatives can create laws that protect employees from abuse. Thank you for your time. The petition is on Change.Org and the link is below.
