App has a number of issues. Sound doesn't always work, the main voice slurs words and speaks too quickly. There is no customer support and no one answers a communication.
On listening exercises only one word is ever said. The rest is silent.
So if you learn by reading it's fine.
This company is putrid. They trick you into what you think is free but then steal $129 for a yearly subscription that you didn't ask for. Refuse to refund you money back and there is absolutely no human to contact. Please be aware of this company and their misleading and fraudulent business practices. They really are the most diabolical company I have ever encountered. Do not be fooled by the promise of alerts regarding the end of the free trial because they do not alert you. Have a look at the 5000+ reviews on Trust Pilot for an indication of what a putrid company this is.
I'm currently on a 565-day streak on Duolingo, practicing 1-2 hours a day, yet my French is nul! The app just throws random sentences at me to translate without explaining the why's, what's, and how's! It doesn't offer grammar lessons, verb conjugations, reasons behind all the usage of prepositions such as de, du, de la, en, à, au, etc. It nitpicks on the spellings if you miss an s or e at the end of a sentence even though their pronunciations are the same, and the app doesn't explain why! When you click on explain my mistake it wants me to upgrade to Duo Max or family plan! They're more interested in squeezing more money out of you than teaching you conversional French! Their scoring system is also weird! Yesterday I was in the Diamond League with over 2500 points and all of a sudden I was thrown in the demotion zone with only 300 points! I couldn't believe my eyes! When my subscription is up, I'm not going to renew it! I'm going to look into Babbel, iTalki, Promova, and other options.
I wait since couple month for the email with my test results! I wrote couple emails already but since today, I still do not have my test results!
Without these test results I cannot start with my classes! I am already late for the fall semester!
It's a shame that you have to pay before you start with the test otherwise, I would still have my money and could do it with someone else.
They should shame about themself to rip of students!
Never again!
I took the Duo-lingo English assessment, and it was a terrible experience. I took the exam TWICE and when I asked them for an explanation of why they did not validate me, they responded unconsciously and ambiguously; and then they constantly changed their arguments; First, was that my glasses were shining, and when they were overwhelmed by my arguments, they came up with a new ploy that I was looking the other way; weak and stupids reasons, I argued to them that I could not control the brightness of the materials and that the movements of the gaze in intellectual processes in the case of an exam are involuntary. They do not accept that their system is deficient
Finally, after 16 email exchanges, they told me that they would give me one more try and the result was the same, they said that I looked the other way, so I asked them to send me the videos and evidence and they did not respond, the just clean his hands, so in total, I spent 120 dollars in the trash with this unscrupulous company
Conclusion: stay away from this unscrupulous thieving company that also does not accept that its system has serious defects and prefers to blame the user
The duo has been sending me weird emails. Feels like Duo is going to take my soul away and knock on my door at midnight if I don't practice spanish.Happy because I can speak some Spanish :)
Anytime you don't use Duolingo, they send you notification emails. This last one I got sounded threatening. Using phrases like " I'm going to make you do your lessons" and " no one wants to see Duolingo upset" Lastly." a happy duo, means a safe and happy you." That sounds psycho to me. I also checked the details of the sender and it was sent to another email besides mine. I'm assuming another parent. Which is not right due to privacy reasons. Now I'm sure that parent can see my email as well.
I stopped practicing Duolingo for a few days and received ridiculously critical emails? Is this way of motivating people to participate? I found it aggressive and rude. The last message was 'how do you say quitter in Italian?'
That's downright bullying.
Do better … a lot better Duo Lingo because like others affected by this experience, you've lost me as a participant and I will not recommend as an effective language learning app.
Duolingo is a blast as you work your way past he Diamond League - winning 1st place. Now I don't have the paid version anymore. So Duo stopped teaching and left me hanging with the same 5 words like a broken record. No real grammar but enough vocabulary for transitioning to another learning platform. So yes, the paid version is fun and effective up to 2000 words. That is why I recommend Duo and his friends.
1. I am already using it for a year. Before the year they did not allowed me to get into my setting therefore they debuted another year from my Credit card. Second. Terrible when you get into more advanced Spanish.
It's sad that Duolingo knowing that I am soon to be using it for one year has blocked me from using my settings. Maybe so that I won't be able to cancel the subscription? I've been writing to them many emails@Duolingo support and There is no reply. Their customer services is zero! Their Spanish teachers are not very good either. Many mistakes….
Answer: Legit company. Its fully real and WILL NOT steal your family.
Answer: It's free. Other platforms offer you free services until a specific level. Duolingo doesn't do that. You can remain as a free user all the time.
Duolingo has a rating of 2.4 stars from 79 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Duolingo ranks 178th among Language Learning sites.
