I started poking around on misfits to see if it was something I would like. I gave them my credit card thinking it was like amazon, no problem. Then a week goes by and I get an email about them charging me for a raft of crap i'll never be able to eat it all even though I told them to order for 1.
I don't see how anyone would want to just randomly get sent stuff and not be able to plan meals around it.
I have been using misfits market for about 24 months. Over time some things have gotten better, some not.
Items ordered are often left out, they have gotten better about refunds, but sometimes don't refund the correct amount.
Customer service issues are handled only by email with cut and paste responses.
Selections are limited and no longer appear to be "misfit" items at all.
It's such a great concept, but I don't think it is what it says it is. Add on the omitted items that happen every other order, and I just don't know if it's worth it.
I order and hope for the best, then get irritated at the quality control, shipping and customer service issues and quit for a while.
All in all, I give it a "meh" rating.
My daughter orders from this place at least twice a month. Their produce is decent. Problem is with either whoever packs or person that delivers. Some things have to be thrown away because the jell packs get broken in the boxes. It spills all over my floor, my clothing, it makes a nasty mess. For this reason alone i give it only one star. Sorry, but you really have to get on top of this if you want better reviews. After all this is your business and if you don't care then you will only lose business.
I signed up for this nearly a year ago, and at first the selection could not be customized - we discovered one of our kids likes mangoes, and tried to figure out what to do with jicama. It was great to expand our horizons, but we ended up wasting a bunch of food, which was contrary to the whole point. Now you can select from a range of choices what will come in your box each week, which has made meal planning much easier, and food waste much lower! Sometimes my box comes a day late, which can be a challenge, but it is still worthwhile for the convenience, quality, and impact on food waste!
I had this service when they first opened and it wasn't the best. Spoiled boxes, gloves in the bottom but now they have taken all the feedback from customers and fixed every problem they had. Thay have fresh bread. Eggs and milks now too!
I have been using Misfits Market for over a year now. I have had pretty good experiences. I am able to remove pre-selected items and "start over" with my own selections so I don't get what I don't want. Unless I forget to do my shopping during my shopping window, then I get whatever they set up for me. But that's on me for not following the schedule. I don't think it saves me money, but it is a nice change to be able to pick a few items that I'd like to try. I had two separate instances of issues. One was a damaged container of hummus that they refunded when I reported it. The other was a missing item, which was also refunded when I reported it. I haven't received any produce that was spoiled or past it's prime. In fact, I don't see the weird looking things that they are fond of saying you'll receive. Just normal fruits and veggies and other good stuff. You can skip weeks or pause for I think up to 3 months. I'm not fond of the freezer packs, seems wasteful, but they did just announce that you can set certain parts of your used packaging and freezer packs outside the day of your delivery and they will pick them up which raised my opinion. I only marked down one star due to the cost not being as great as expected. Photo is part of my last shipment that I am sharing with my grown son. This is his portion. No damage and the apples are huge! I've even ordered eggs and they have come undamaged. Also, I am wondering if the issues others are having may be regional in nature. I'm in Michigan and I believe my boxes come from Ohio if that helps anyone?
If I could give this company zero stars I would, same story as some of the others, I signed up just to see what it was all about, seems like I could view the products and prices unless I did... I like how one other PO'd customer on here said it I was dumb enough to "surrender" my CC on their site but I absolutely DID NOT place an order I could see that I could do better just shopping at Aldi's. A few weeks went by and 11:30 at night a delivery truck shows up outside with a box and my husband opens it up with 80% stinky rotten produce inside. I look up their site and report the issue with the produce, I was suppose to get a refund for the rotten produce I NEVER ordered, of course I didn't and there's NO WAY to contact them even their phone number (that you have to find on google) is bogus. I had to cancel my CC right before Christmas with more shopping left to do, thanks crooks! BUYER BEWARE! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
I have ordered, and subsequently cancelled, services from this company twice over 2021-2022.
I really like the idea of food delivery using items that would otherwise go to waste. In execution, though, this company fails to meet even minimal expectations for service.
I will give a sampling of two of eight issues that occurred with with just my last 2 orders. For example, I ordered 2 pkgs (8 oz) Organic Valley Cheddar Cheese for over $10 and 2 pkgs (6 oz) Roth Cheddar Cheese for about $8. What I received was 4 pkgs of Roth Cheddar cheese, with no indication on my account that a substitute had been given, and no refund of the difference. Another example is my order of chicken broth - didn't receive, didn't get a refund, and there was no "substitution" of anything comparable.
I wish I had checked with the BBB reviews before giving this company my money, as it has a horrible overall rating and the examples given above pale in comparison to some that were indicated on the BBB review site.
I placed my first order 3 weeks ago. Due to everything happening in the world right now I didn't get my first box until a few days ago. They send you this great email prior showing you all of the wonderful things they are picking that week so the anticipation was great. They show all of these vegetables and fruits overflowing from the box. What did I get? Are you ready, this is the total items I received for $27.50... 1 onion, 2 small potatoes, 1 small bunch of parsley, 1 very small stalk of celery, a cucumber, 1 butternut squash, 3 poblano peppers, 3 jalapeno peppers, 3 small oranges ( I live in Florida... something else would have been great!) and2 small zuchinni. That is it! Only small oranges as fruit even though they must have mentioned 25 item of fruit that week. And most all of what they sent me I already had in my frig. Well if this is what it's going to be like then forget it. I cancelled right away and had wished there had been some way to send this all back and get my money!
Answer: I'd say scam. They certainly dont explain what they are about very well.
