To update, when I received a promotional email from Zoo Phonics, I replied directly and was told my email had been forwarded to someone else who would take care of the issue. I did not see that person's email, but I wrote directly to the address I'd been given, and that person wrote back fairly quickly saying they'd researched why my download had been unsuccessful and providing an alternate method for downloading the software. The game itself was a bit slow for my kid's taste, but he did enjoy it, and it provided a great opportunity for my kids to play with letters, helping the littlest one along his journey toward reading.
I tried to buy a Read-and-Spell game from the website. The cost was $30. I tried downloading it twice, but after passing 200 MB, it registered a network error, and my available downloads were used up. There has been no response to the first two emails I sent. I continue to hope I will receive the game and be able to change my opinion of a reading program my aunt had so highly recommended to me.
Zoo-phonics is a great way to teach kids the alphabet and letter sounds. It includes hand motions, so children can use their motor memory. Motor memory is a great way to learn. You can buy all kinds of educational materials on their site.
